Taking the message of God into all the world!

In 1998 the Bowdon Country Church celebrated one hundred years of history. Back in 1897, the Bowdon Country Church was born. A year later, in 1898, a small church was organized and the little group built a sod church. By 1901 a wooden frame structure replaced the original place of worship. In 1910 a new wing accommodated a church school. By 1916 the membership of Bowdon Country stood at 140 and they again needed more room. A new sanctuary was built and the scholars took over the old church. The great depression and the drought of the thirties forced many families to move on to greener pastures. In 1946 disaster struck and a fire leveled the third church building to the ground. A year later, the congregation consisting of eight families went ahead and rebuilt the church. Remodeling was done in 1966. Seven years later the Bowdon Country congregation celebrated 75 years. In 1978 a new modern church building was built. It stands today as a memorial to the vision of our pioneers and a witness to the faith of their children.
